About Me – DeWitt

My name is Seth DeWitt, and I am currently a senior at the University of Dayton. I am a History major with a minor in Anthropology. Hailing from the city of Cincinnati, I will most likely return there after graduating in the spring. I spent junior year of my college experience abroad, visiting countries all over the world. Seeing these locales drove home the common ties between all people. A plethora of historic sites also emphasized the importance of preserving the past, a concept that draws me to the Dayton Arcade Project.

When not involved with academics, I spend most of my time with friends. From exploring Dayton and its environs to playing sports such as soccer and basketball, staying active is very important to me. In my personal time, I read large amounts of science fiction and fantasy, as well as following my favorite futbol clubs. As shown by my year abroad, traveling and exploring other cultures is a passion and I hope to be able to continue to do so in the future. This drive to understand people outside of my culture is a huge reason for my love of history, and effects every aspect of my life.

I am focusing my research primarily on the current state of the Dayton Arcade and the renovation plans. This also includes the goals for downtown Dayton as a whole. I am very excited to see not only where the current ideas for the Arcade arose, but also where the future is going! This revitalization project is key to the city of Dayton and surrounding areas, so understanding the process is very important.
