The Dayton Daily News Archive Collection is located at the Wright State University Special Collections and Archives. As an effect of the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, I retrieved the Dayton Daily News Archive Clippings from Newspapers.com. The Archive collection was instrumental in determining when shops opened, which shops were located in the Arcade, what the most popular restaurants were, and the years that restaurants flourished most in the years the Arcade was active.

The Merchants of the Arcade use the newspapers to attract the attention of potential customers. The customers are looking for alternatives to home-cooking. Through the 1920s, the number of women cooking from home decreased, and the demand for full-service restaurants increased.

Pony House was a very famous saloon in Dayton, during the 1920s, bars struggled to remain open as a result of the prohibition.
