Pretzinger Architectural Collection

Created by Hannah Kratofil

This gallery contains images of linen tracings of the Commercial Building done in 1906 by Albert Pretzinger for the Adam Schantz Estate. The Commercial Building, the last of the Arcade buildings, was erected on the corner of Fourth and Ludlow in 1908. With its ten stories, it was one of the few high-rises of the time, providing office space for a variety of professions. These tracings show floor plans for all ten stories (including the attic and the basement) as well as details of the storefronts, skylights, staircases, and various interior and exterior design elements.

These files are part of the Pretzinger Architectural Collection (MS-153) located at the Wright State University Special Collections and Archives. It consists of blueprints, drawings, business records, and photographs from the Albert Pretzinger Architectural Firm located in Dayton. The collection features architectural styles of residences, schools, churches, hospitals, and commercial buildings in the Dayton area.
