About John Walker

My name is John Walker. I am a senior at the University of Dayton. I am graduating in May of 2019 as a history major with a German minor. The Dayton Arcade History project represents the ultimate capstone of my historical studies at the University of Dayton. Beyond graduation, I fully intend to continue on a postgraduate track, with the aim of achieving both a master’s degree and a doctorate, specializing in modern U.S. military history (preferably post-Second World War). With such a skillset, I intend to pursue a career as a university-level professor. The skills that I am gaining from my experience with the Dayton Arcade History Project, both in terms of archival research, as well as personal, oral history interviews, will no doubt be of great service on my chosen career path.

Personally, I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I continue to reside their. In addition to history as a major, I have applied myself to achieving a minor in German. This involved not only a set of rigorous German courses at the University of Dayton, but a month spent abroad in Berlin, Germany. Beyond academics my interests lie in music, specifically my hobby of playing the saxophone, a skill I have built up since 2008.
